About & methodology
Family Home Care Guide is a brand-neutral resource for families comparing non-medical home care. We don't take payment for listings or rankings.
How we choose agencies
- Reviews: the Google rating and review count from the agency's Google Maps listing, with the date we checked.
- Services: dementia, 24-hour/live-in, and respite care, counted only when the agency's own local page describes them.
- Local coverage: a city office or a named service area on the agency's own site.
- Transparency: published pricing, payment options, and service areas.
What we leave out
We leave out agencies with no verifiable listing, a closed listing, no local office, or mainly medical (Medicare home health) services. We may add them later once we can confirm the details.
How we source numbers
Cost figures come from the CareScout/Genworth Cost of Care Survey, official agencies (va.gov, Texas HHS), and prices agencies publish themselves. Secondary sources are labeled as secondary. If we can't verify something, we show TBD.
Who runs this site
Family Home Care Guide is owned and edited by Albert Sloss. We are not a home care agency, a referral service, or a medical provider, and no clinician reviews these pages. Please talk to a doctor about medical questions.
Updates
Every agency shows a "last verified" date. We re-check listings and figures monthly. Read the full editorial policy, including how we make money.
Please note: This guide is general information for families, not medical, legal, or financial advice. Prices, ratings, and program rules change; confirm directly with agencies, the VA, and Texas HHS. We are brand-neutral and do not accept payment for placement.
